Somewhere Between Prompt and Context Engineering

I know that we “moved on” from prompt engineering but it’s still a huge gap for tech and non-tech AI users, developers, consumers, etc. We need more conversation engineering that is a middle ground between prompt and context.

Articulating what you envision is still a challenge. I imagine that outside of the tech bubble, writing and summarization are probably still the top uses (in aggregate) for many general AI users. With the next level being light-weight automation.

That said, even in tech, a lot of folks have challenges envisioning an end state in order to even begin articulating and vibing. They have more tools at their disposal but are falling into another type of analysis paralysis. Agents help but they can also go down rabbit holes that lead to dead ends.

Both are just observations, and opportunities. It will be interesting to see how this evolves over time.
